Mardi Gras Recipe: King Cake Toffee

This cracker candy or "toffee" is a fun and EASY recipe to celebrate Mardi Gras. Flavors and colors of a king cake, snack on this all Carnival season!

• Saltine crackers • Brown sugar • Unsalted butter • Ground cinnamon • White chocolate chips • Sanding sugar (purple, yellow, green)

How to King Cake Cracker Toffee

Preheat Oven

Preheat oven to 400°F. Line large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

Layer Crackers

Place saltines on baking sheet in single layer.

Make Toffee

In a medium saucepan, melt butter, sugar and cinnamon. Allow to boil 3 minutes.

Spread Toffee

Pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and spread evenly.

Bake

Place baking sheet in oven and bake for 7 minutes. Meanwhile...

Melt Chocolate

Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave while the toffee crackers are baking.

Layer Chocolate

Spread the melted white chocolate over the toffee layer.

Decorate

Sprinkle purple, yellow and green sanding sugar over the white chocolate in diagonal pattern.

Let Harden

Place pan in freezer until hardened, then break into random bite sized pieces.
