If you did a search on here for beverages, you would find a very short list. I really want to make a change to that, especially after guzzling this fresh strawberry drink the other week. Now I have a catalog of homemade drink recipes I want to try, from lemonade variations to cocktails even. I could add a couple smoothies recipes, and maybe I will someday soon, but it's hard to jot down measurements when I'm not using any particular formula. Just throw in some frozen fruit, a banana, juice, spinach, etc. That's it. 🙂
But, on to this Strawberry Agua Fresca. What a refreshingly easy way to quench your thirst on a hot summer day. Think of it as lemonade, but with strawberries. In fact, try variations and make strawberry-lemonade. I'm sure there is so much more we can throw together here. What are your favorite summer drinks?
Strawberry Agua Fresca
Yield: 2-3 servings
1 lb strawberries, stems removed and sliced in half
2 ½ cups cold water
3 to 4 tablespoons sugar
juice of two limes
Puree the strawberries in a blender. Set a fine mesh strainer on top of a pitcher and pour the strawberries through to filter out the seeds. Push the strawberries into the strainer to release all of the juices. Discard the seeds. Add water, sugar and lime juice to the pitcher; stir well until sugar dissolves. Chill or pour into individual cups with ice before serving.
