It's been a couple of weeks since my last Saturday Seeds. I'm thinking this might be turning into a once per month thing. Today I'm talking about the Hallmark show "When Calls The Heart", Upward Basketball, and the nasty flu season! I'm also asking for your advice on my current project to redecorate our master bedroom. I can use all the help I can get!
GLADD FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
A quick journal of this week with the Gladd’s (that’s us)!
The Flu Hit Our Home
I'm SO over this crazy flu season! It's EVERYWHERE this year! Simon got it last Friday and it lasted about 2 ½ days, so it wasn't too bad. Ben got it the day after Simon -- and only last about 2 days. But, this whole week we've all been feeling a bit under the weather -- and I blame the actual weather! It's been cold, then warm, and every day rainy. Then today we had tornado warnings!
(It's currently down pouring as I'm typing this.) Rain, rain, GO AWAY!
When I took Simon to the doctor, I realized he was wearing his pajamas still -- and better yet, Christmas PJ's! At least I was dressed, I guess! HA!
When Calls The Heart
This week, I re-read my Cupid Bites blog post from a few years ago. Back then, I wrote about possibly binge watching Parenthood. I couldn't decide if the show was too depressing or if it was worth the time. Well, I'll have you know that I did binge watch it that year and I LOVED it. Like one of my besties warned me, I had dreams I was part of the Braverman family. 🙂
Since then, I binged Gilmore Girls and had dreams I lived in Stars Hollow (did you know I actually visited the filming set at Warner Brothers before I even watched it?). Now, I'm currently binging When Calls the Heart on Netflix -- but Ben is actually watching this one with me. Have you watched this Hallmark series? We just began season 4 this week and now I'm dreaming of living life on the frontier!
Don't leave me any spoilers, but, who are your favorite characters in When Calls the Heart? Mine are Lee and Rosemary -- they make me smile every episode!
Upward Basketball Champions
We recently finished the boys' Upward Basketball season. They both loved playing this year (this was Simon's first time)! Both teams had GREAT coaches.
Judah's team went undefeated so his coach surprised them team with individual trophies. So sweet! Kids LOVE getting trophies and this is only Judah's second one, so he was definitely excited!
Master Bedroom Makeover
We decided to redecorate our master bedroom so I spent some time this week shopping for new pillows, end tables, a mirror to go above our dresser, and more items on my list. The first thing we did to change it up was moving our bed to the opposite wall so it is now between our two windows. This small change already made a world of difference.
I need help finding end tables! This week at Home Goods, I found the perfect lamps but our end tables are different heights so it makes the lamps uneven. We wanted to change our end tables anyway, but I cannot seem to find anything I like within our budget. Where is your favorite place to shop for end tables? I want at least one or two drawers and then a shelf on the bottom to maybe place a basket or hold some books.
Next week I plan to shop Hobby Lobby for a sign above our bed (hoping to find them on sale)! I'm also planning on a chair in the corner (that you can't see) and Ben has an area taped on the opposite wall for a new, bigger, television so we can binge Netflix from the comfort of our bed.
Valentine's Day Party
The boys had fun at their Valentine's Day parties for school last week. I really enjoyed the fact that they both made their Valentine's boxes at school instead of having to do it at home. Simon's class just decorated bags, but Judah was forced to use his own creative mind to decorate a cereal box. He made a football field and I'm proud how it turned out given he didn't get to have our help!
THIS WEEK ON SEEDED AT THE TABLE:
Links to recipes or other posts published this week on Seeded At The Table.
Willy Wonka Birthday Party - I finally wrote about Simon's 5th birthday party, even though he's about to turn 6 in April! Oops! He wanted a Charlie & The Chocolate Factory birthday party last year and it turned out to be a lot of fun. In this post I share the games we played and decoration ideas.
Leprechaun Bites - Fun tiny shortbread cookies for a Saint Patrick's Day treat! These are similar to my BOO! Bites, Jingle Bell Bites, and Cupid Bites.
RECIPES DUG FROM THE ARCHIVES:
Let’s dig into the archives and reconsider some of the older recipes my family enjoyed during the week.
New Orleans Beignets - This morning we invited neighbor friends over to enjoy these homemade beignets. I make them only once a year during Mardi Gras season and today was the day!
Packzi - Speaking of Mardi Gras season, consider making this Polish bakery treat for Fat Tuesday!
I also have a recipe for King Cake and Jambalaya if you're really into the Mardi Gras mood! Are you going to any parades to celebrate?
Have a great weekend!
