For this Saturday Seeds we are sharing about our last day of school bus water fight, piano lessons, VBS and some Birkenstock knock-offs I love! Read on for a few more highlights this month!
Last Day of School Bus Water Fight!
This was our 4th annual school bus water fight. This is specific to our neighborhood and I have fun organizing it each year on the last day of school. Our neighborhood absolutely LOVES our bus driver, and he is also our elementary school's custodian. He is the best sport when it comes to this water fight each year. The kids get so excited for this event and love running off the bus while getting soaked with water balloons. We also raise a monetary gift for the bus driver and give it to him after soaking him. 🙂
Baseball is Over
Baseball is officially done. Judah's team ended the regular season in 3rd place but we lost our first tournament game. It was such a fun season and now I can't wait for next year! We are not the family that does travel ball because we travel too much anyway. 🙂 But, we are competitive still so always look forward to a good ball season!
Piano Lessons
A couple of days before school ended, Judah took his first piano lesson!! I'm so excited for him. He actually cried when I told him months ago that I signed him up, but after his first lesson he loved it. He never complains about lessons anymore and he often practices on his own without me asking him. We'll see how long this lasts, but I'm glad he's getting the foundation because I believe it's an important skill that can help in many other areas. He is taking them at a local guitar place (DC Guitars) that also offers instruction in many other instruments.
Vacation Bible School
VBS was this week and my whole crew was exhausted before Friday even came! Our theme this year was Wild West and it was so fun! It was very well organized! I volunteered with the 1st graders and they couldn't have been more sweet! What a great age!
Cypress Lake Swim Team
Summer swim team started last week. My boys participate for the month of June on our Cypress Lake Swordfish team. We had our first meet last Monday and both boys did great! This was the first time Simon was able to swim the whole length without having to grab the rope. Judah scored 1st place in relay and 3rd in both freestyle and backstroke. He missed 2nd place by less than a second!
National Donut Day
Yesterday was National Donut Day which you know is important to the Gladd family. 😉 Because it was the last day of VBS, we weren't able to make it to our favorite donut place so we went this morning instead! This fall, our friend is opening a craft donut shop in Belhaven neighborhood so you know where we'll be celebrating next year! Cannot wait for it to open!
Loving Lately:
Here I will share with you my favorite things of late, along with other snippets that have caught my eye from some of my favorite blogs and websites.
Mia Jaxx Sandals
I found these Birkenstock knock-offs at Sam's Club a few weeks ago for just $9.98! Amazon also has them for a little higher price but still much cheaper than brand price. They are perfect for the pool because they're rubber and don't stain your feet when wet -- as a friend tipped off for me (she has the Birkenstocks).
