This Week on Pennies on a Platter
This section highlights the recipes posted this week on Pennies on a Platter and other updates to the blog, if any.
Strawberry Stuffed French Toast - Getting ready for strawberry season with this delightfully sweet french toast.
Homemade Whipped Cream - An inexpensive way to have whipped cream on hand in a jiffy.
Spaghetti Meat Sauce - A staple in my freezer.
Dug Out from the Archives
Let's dig into the archives and reconsider some of the older recipes on Pennies on a Platter that we ate this week. (Some of which I plan to re-post with new photos and better directions in the near future.)
Poppyseed Chicken - Although I need a new photo of this, we enjoy this college favorite of mine quite often.
Caught My Eye
I love reading other blogs and websites, and often bookmark their recipes, products or reviews. These are a few that top my list from the week.
Day Tripping Mom - If you live in Southern California, you will want to check out this site. Founder, Aracely and contributor, Desiree share their family outings with us for ideas of what we can also do in So Cal. I love that they keep their readers updated on free events, as well.
My Life as a Pastor's Wife and Food Blogger
Want more insight into my life as a Pastor's wife, mom, friend, relative and food blogger? Then, read on! If not, ignore this section. 🙂 This is a place for me to write what's on my mind and journal some of the crowning moments of my week.
My little sister is in town visiting us from Michigan during her spring break. Her first day, I took her into Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We toured Paramount Studios, ate Sprinkles Cupcakes and Pink's Hot Dogs. Below are a few pictures of this first day. Next week, I'm sure I'll have a lot more to share!
We started at the Kodak Theatre. Isn't my little sister beautiful? I wish cute dresses like that were in style when I was her age, instead of baggy jeans and flannel shirts.
Next up was lunch at the famous Pink's Hot Dogs. I ordered the Walk of Fame dog.
When there is a line that long, you know it's going to be good.
Messy dogs!
Then we headed to Paramount Studios where we....
...ran into cast members of The Fresh Beat Band. Remember, when I expressed my love for this Nick, Jr. show before? I was definitely on cloud nine.
What a great day!

No way! Your husband went to TMS? When did he graduate? My husband's name is Gus and he graduated in 2009. That would be crazy if they knew each other! My parents live in Santa Clarita, and so I know of Apple Valley but have never been there before! Ok so now I feel like it's a very small world 🙂

Hi Melissa,
My husband is an associate pastor at a reformed church in Apple Valley, CA. He attended The Master's College for his undergrad so is very familiar with John Macarthur and his church. We have very good friends who attend there as well. 🙂
