Two weeks ago when my in-laws were in town, I made the panini's for a quick lunch before we headed to Madison. At the end of the weekend (after they went home) we had some leftover ham and cheese slices, so I made us some turnovers. It was nice to have a quick and easy meal, and not have to run to the store to get anything. Especially since we just wanted to relax after a busy weekend.
Ham and Cheese Turnovers (adapted from Real Simple)
1 loaf frozen bread dough
deli ham, sliced
provolone cheese, sliced
½ yellow onion, cut into thin slices
Heat oven to 400 degrees.
Roll the dough into a circle and cut into 8 triangles.
Stack a piece of the hame, cheese, and some onion on the bottom of each triangle and roll the dough up around the filling...(like a croissant).
Transfer the rolls to a baking stone (or parchment-lined baking sheet). Bake until golden and crisp (about 20 minutes).
