This summer I have shared some lunch and dinner recipes for the grill, but what about desserts? A few years ago I made brownies in my cast-iron skillet on our grill. The power suddenly went out and my brownie batter was already mixed. So, we lit up the grill and baked up one of the best brownie batches I've ever tasted! That's not the recipe I'm sharing today. This one is much much easier.
One of the simplest desserts you can make on the grill is grilled stone fruit (peaches, plums, apricots). Just slice them, pit them, sprinkle on some sugar and after 5 minutes over the heat they are ready to be polished off by you! Use regular white sugar, brown sugar or one of my recent favorites, homemade vanilla sugar (recipe to come). 🙂
Grilled Peaches and Plums
Yield: Varies, depending on amount of fruit used
Peaches, halved and pitted
Plums, halved and pitted
Butter, optional
Granulated white sugar, brown sugar, or vanilla sugar
Brush the outer skin of the peaches and plums with butter (optional). Arrange, cut side up, on a work surface. Sprinkle the flesh with sugar, to taste. Grill, cut side down, over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Serve alone or with ice cream.
