The food truck phenomenon has not yet gone away. In fact, it is still making it's way into Mississippi. We only have a couple, and I'm hoping for more eventually. But, I am completely satisfied with our few options so far, especially this one serving up hamburgers, Lurny D's Grille.
First thing is first. I'm a total sucker for the appearance and packaging of things. Same when it comes to the artwork on a food truck. I love the hippie Scooby-doo Mystery Machine spin-off of Lurny D's. I'm not sure why they opted for this look, but it works!
We visited them most recently at the Livingston Farmer's Market, arriving early to beat any crowd.
Ever since my friend, Lisa, wrote about their burger that was topped with bacon and peanut butter, I've been dying to give it a try. The Goober Burger is a messy one, but it was a great combo of sweet and salty. The part of the basket that stole the show for me, though, were the fries!
Lurny D's serves up hand-cut fries that are out of this world! I filled up on them and couldn't finish my burger, but Ben was eating the other half anyway so it worked out. 🙂 Hand-cut and fried to order. Delicious!
As you can see, there are more interesting burger choices on their menu - definitely going to try the Pimento Cheese Burger next time! They also rotate specials quite often, so you never know what they may offer up!
Usually located at Smith Park (the corner Amite and West Street - Downtown Jackson), you can keep up with Lurny D's daily location by following them on Twitter and Facebook.
Keep your eye out for Lurny D's and be ready for an incredible burger and fries experience!
