I did it. I shattered my iPhone.
Last week, after five fabulous long years of owning various iPhone models, and after approximately 5.6 billion times of dropping each of them with no damaging results, I finally broke the screen.
It looked like a spiderweb and, fittingly enough, I felt like I was caught in a spiderweb. What the heck was I going to do?!? I literally JUST bought this phone 40 days before I broke it. This time I didn't purchase the Apple Care because I thought "heck, in the 5 years I've owned an iPhone, I've never needed the Apple Care, so why waste my money?" Bad idea.
The next day, I loaded up the kids and headed to the Apple Store. I figured they would have pity on a mom lugging in a baby and toddler, right? Um, no.
I told them my sob story and then they offered to fix my screen for $150+tax! Oh, good grief. (By the way, this was regular price...Sob story and puppy dog eyes from the kiddos didn't work.)
After a few minutes of standing there and talking to the Apple "genius", he finally said "Let me see what I can do for you." He consulted with his manager and came back to tell me they could meet me halfway. So, I paid $75+tax.
Ok, maybe the sob story and puppy dog eyes from the kiddos DID work.
But, next time it happens, you'll be sure to know they will charge me full price. I need to be prepared. Where would YOU go to fix your iPhone screen for less??
(And, please don't tell me I need an OtterBox case. I know this already. I used OtterBox for my last phone and it was fabulous. Unfortunately, though, it stretched and tore until it was super annoying. And, it's ugly. I wanted cute and rugged. I thought this case would do the trick, but apparently I was wrong.) 🙂
In other news, Judah and I met up with some friends last week to celebrate Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-a. Did you go?
Earlier this week, we attended a superhero birthday party! Each boy got to make and take home their own cape. Super cool!
And now, let's get to the reason you're really here...the food!!

No-Bake Summer Berry Bread Pudding - Turn off your oven in this summer heat and cool off with this delicious no-bake berry bread pudding.
Homemade Cheez-It Snack Crackers - These homemade cheese snack crackers are just as good, if not more, than your favorite Cheez-Its bought at the store.
Our Favorite Berry Cobbler - One of our all-time favorite desserts, this berry cobbler is mixed up quickly, thrown into the oven and then topped with a scoop of ice cream.
Loving Lately:
Here I will share with you my favorite things of late, along with other snippets that have caught my eye from some of my favorite blogs and websites.
Diono Buggy Buddy Stroller Organizer - You all know that I love love love my stroller. But, what I haven't mentioned yet is that I also love the stroller caddy I bought to go with it. It isn't the same brand as the stroller (BabyJogger) because any of the name brand caddies are like $25. I found this one on Amazon for $9.59 with great reviews, so went for it. So happy I did! It's perfect. It has two cupholders, an place in the center for keys and whatever, and what you don't see is a zipper pocket on the other side for my cell phone or other valuables. It's also water-proof so if you spill anything it cleans right up, and insulated so drinks stay cool. It attaches very easily to pretty much any stroller with the velcro handles. You must get this one if you're in need of a caddy! For realz!
DietBet - This last Monday I started a DietBet group and ten others have joined me in trying to lose weight for the next 28 days. Have you heard of DietBet? It's a social dieting game. Here's how it works: Someone starts a game (me!) and sets the bet-in price and starting date. (Since it was my first time, I set my game for the lowest option, $10.) Whoever wants to join places their $10 into the pool and then once the game starts we all have 4 weeks to lose 4% of our initial weight. Whoever loses the 4% at the end of the 4 weeks will split the pot of money! You might wonder how people stay honest? Well, up to 2 days before the game starts, players submit their initial weigh-in to the DietBet referees. This includes a photo of your whole self standing on the scale, wearing your clothes, of course. 🙂 Then, you have to submit a second photo of the digital weight on the scale with the "word of the day" written on a piece of paper. These two photos together along with certain algorithms provide the referees with what they need to know to validate the weigh-in. They will approve the weigh-in within 12 hours, or ask for another if something doesn't line up. Then, at the end of the game, same thing. Weigh-in photos are sent to the referees. These photos and the weight are all kept private. Anyway, so far I have had so much fun interacting with the other players in our group as we use the group social board to encourage one another and update our successes. You can join up to 14 days into the game, so if you're interested in joining, click here.
My strategy to lose weight in this game is to drink only water (and limited coffee) and not eat after 7PM. Let's see if it works! 🙂
Have a great weekend!!
