This Week on Pennies on a Platter
This section highlights the recipes posted this week on Pennies on a Platter and other updates to the blog, if any.
Roasted Marshmallow Ice Cream - Continuing further into National Ice Cream Month, I tried this different ice cream concoction that involves making your own marshmallows. Delicious results!
Graham Crackers - I made these specifically for the ice cream sandwiches, but will be making them over and over again for snacks on their own. They are THAT good.
S'more Ice Cream Sandwiches - Put together the Roasted Marshmallow Ice Cream and the homemade Graham Crackers for this sweet treat!
Dug Out from the Archives
Let's dig into the archives and reconsider some of the older recipes on Pennies on a Platter that we ate this week. (Some of which I plan to re-post with new photos and better directions in the near future.)
Since it is National Ice Cream Month, I'd like to remind you of other ice cream recipes buried into the archives. These are a few of my favorites:
Coffee Ice Cream
Cinnamon Ice Cream
Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream
And, stay tuned for an ice cream themed giveaway this month on my Facebook page! Make sure you visit the page and "Like" it so you won't miss out!
Caught My Eye
I love reading other blogs and websites, and often bookmark their recipes, products or reviews. These are a few that top my list from the week.
Ok, this is a website you need to check out if you are in the mood for a dry-humor sort of laugh. This is totally my kind of comedy. Friends in our church recently introduced this guy (Julian Smith) to us and I can't get enough! Check out his website and videos, then tell me which ones are YOUR favorite. JulianSmith.tv
My Life as a Pastor's Wife and Food Blogger
Want more insight into my life as a Pastor's wife, mom, friend, relative and food blogger? Then, read on! If not, ignore this section. 🙂 This is a place for me to write what's on my mind and journal some of the crowning moments of my week.
I haven't written much about my church on here, and how much I love it. I feel really blessed to be a part of a strong Gospel-centered church where God's word is actually preached. There are many churches these days where the pastor takes a topic and goes all over the place with it, without at all referring to the Scriptures. Our senior pastor (and the associate pastors, as well...Ben being one of them) are careful to make sure that what they are preaching is lined up with what God has communicated in His written Word. Currently, we are going through a series on the Holy Spirit and I am eating it up! I won't go into it more, but if you are interested in listening to the sermons, you can find them by clicking here.
On another note, we had a wonderful visit this last week with Ben's two brothers and their wives. This included hanging out with Judah's only cousin, Avery, who is six months younger. Since we all live in different parts of the country, this was a very rare occasion for us. It was a great time of sitting and chatting and playing with the kids. We grilled burgers and ate the S'more Ice Cream Sandwiches for dessert. Here are a few photos of the day we spent together:
The handsome brothers...can never really get a good serious smile out of these goof-balls. 🙂
The *beautiful* wives. 😉 I didn't even realize that we are positioned in the same order as our hubby's pic.
Avery and Judah. Cousins, yet their only resemblance is the finger in the mouth. 😉
Judah loved entertaining his little cousin. It appears she loved it, too!
