EASY HOMEMADE CORNBREAD

This easy cornbread recipe makes THE BEST homemade cornbread.  You can't go wrong with this tender skillet cornbread recipe!

Ingredients:

– ½ cup unsalted butter – 1 cup yellow cornmeal – 1 cup all-purpose flour – 2 Tablespoons sugar – 2 teaspoons baking powder – ½ teaspoon baking soda – ½ teaspoon salt – 1 ½ cups buttermilk – 1 large egg

This perfect homemade cornbread is moist, with a tender crumb and only a hint of sweet that doesn't overpower the taste of corn.

GENERAL STEPS

Place stick of butter into 10-inch oven-proof skillet and place in the oven. Preheat oven with skillet in it to 425°F. Whisk the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large mixing bowl. Lightly beat the egg into the buttermilk. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir to combine.

Add the butter into the mixing bowl. Pour batter evenly into the hot skillet.  Bake 12-15 minutes, until edges are golden and center is set.
