Follow along with us this week as we talk about Jim Gaffigan, Belhaven's Grilled Cheese Festival, Judah's growth in baseball and Simon's Eric Carle Day! Read more as I talk about some of my favorite things lately.
GLADD FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
A quick journal of this week with the Gladd’s (that’s us)!
Jim Gaffigan at Brandon Amphitheater
Last night we saw Jim Gaffigan's stand up tour at the Brandon Amphitheater with friends. We met before the show for dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Jackson, Barrelhouse. SO good. Brisket Tots and Wings were our choice on the menu. Other times we've also had the Brisket Sliders and Tuna Nachos. Everything we've had there so far is delicious! Definitely recommend it!
As for Jim Gaffigan, he was as hilarious as always. We watched his latest Netflix special and were worried it would be the same sketch. But, to our surprise most of the material was new! He's so funny.
This was our first time seeing a show at the Brandon Amphitheater. We loved it! It's definitely a great venue and I loved the outdoor vibe. It's clean, offers great food and drink options, and security is pretty strict so you feel safe. The only complaint we have is the parking, but it really isn't all THAT bad.
Belhaven's Grilled Cheese Festival
Last Sunday we attended Belhaven Neighborhood's 2nd Annual Grilled Cheese Festival. There were eight vendors set up with their own variation of grilled cheese samples and every guest voted on the best. The turn-out must've been larger than expected because we only managed to taste three different samples before they started running out. Even so, it was a fun (although HOT) afternoon with the kids -- who managed to talk us into buying them the largest sno-balls EVER.
Simon's Eric Carle Day
Simon had Eric Carle Day last Friday which is the Kindergarten classes annual spring concert. He sang his heart out! After the 20 minute concert, they spent the rest of the day going to different stations around the school for fun Eric Carle themed activities and snacks. It's always such a FUN and cute event!
Judah and Baseball
When we signed Judah up for spring baseball this year, he cried a little and wasn't happy with us. Why? Because he didn't know the game and was nervous. You might ask why in the world did I sign him up when he didn't want to play? Here's why: I know my child. He is exactly like me. If he doesn't know what he's getting into, he gets very anxious about it. I knew he would love it once he started playing, and I knew he'd be pretty good at it. So, I need to give him a little "shove" sometimes in order for him to hop out of his comfort zone.
After two months of playing, he now LOVES baseball. He mainly plays shortstop and is now even pitching in a few games! He's not bad at all! We've really enjoyed going to his games and watching him grow. Simon didn't play this year because his season is later and tends to get a little too hot. Next year though...

Loving Lately:
Here I will share with you my favorite things of late, along with other snippets that have caught my eye from some of my favorite blogs and websites.
Bigfoot Seek and Find Books
The boys love the Bigfoot Search and Find books. Instead of grabbing my phone for screen time in the car, they have been grabbing this search and find book. This series also makes activity books with stickers, too! They're available on Amazon.
Geometric Earrings
I'm in love with these geometric earrings lately. They are super light-weight and dress up even your most casual outfits. I love wearing the floral ones with a basic tee. You can see my other pair (the white hoop ones) in the Jim Gaffigan group photo above. And, with a price of less than $10, who can pass them up!??
