Need a fruit dish idea for your winter gathering? This Winter Fruit Salad is a nice seasonal option using kiwi, mandarins, apples, pomegranates and pears glazed with a refreshing honey-lemon poppy seed dressing.
When asked to bring a fruit dish to a winter event, do you sometimes get stumbled like I do? My first thought when someone asks me to bring fruit is a bowl of cut up strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc. It hasn't been often where I've been asked to bring fruit during the winter, and this year I needed easy fruit dish ideas for a couple of gatherings. My go-to ended up being this Winter Fruit Salad.
The hardest part of this recipe is cutting up the fruit, but that isn't really even all that hard. If you're curious if you should peel the apples and pears -- don't. I never do for this. It would take up way too much and it's not necessary at all. Just wash, dice and drop in the bowl!
The pomegranates really dress up this dish! They are so beautiful! Do not be intimidated by pomegranates. I have a step-by-step post of how you cut into these wonderful fruits.
This fruit salad was a big hit for all. It is so simple to put together and can last a few days in the fridge. I do recommend waiting until just before serving to pour in the dressing, but it will still keep as leftovers for a few days even with the dressing on.
